The first week of March has turned the Bitterroot River into a quandry of possibilities for fly fishermen. Warm sunny days and warm nights has increased the water temperatures enough to stimulate a few Skwala females to return to the water. This normally signals the beginning of the Skwala hatch which will for the next 6 weeks. The major portion of the hatch will come around the middle of the month and we will see Skwala's throughout the entire river system. Currently, the major fishing is on the lower river from Corvallis north.
Low water continues on the upper river sections and one stretch is almost impassable with a drift boat or raft.
